Dear Fanboy Comics Readers:
This was my first year ever to cosplay at Comic-Con, and there was no better character to portray than The Hunger Games' Katniss Everdeen! As one of the strongest female characters in Young Adult fiction, Katniss will be making her movie debut in Lionsgate's film adaptation, due in theatres in March of 2012.
The Lionsgate booth at SDCC featured an over-sized HG film poster, as well as several screens that played the recently released motion poster. In addition, Lionsgate staffers handed out Mockingjay pins and posters, which became the most sought-after swag of the Con.
Although I feared that no one would recognize my Katniss costume, I was overjoyed to find a rabid Hunger Games fan base in attendance! In fact, there were a few other Katniss cosplayers walking the convention floor in various incarnations. You can CLICK HERE see all of the photos of the Hunger Games super fans with "Katniss" on the Fanboy Comics page on Facebook.
In addition, Fanboy Comics staffers Bryant Dillon, Rebecca Lear, and myself took a few moments to discuss The Hunger Games' presence at the Con, our love of the book series, and my experience with Katniss cosplay. CLICK HERE to listen to the audio commentary.
For those that were unable to attend San Diego Comic-Con (and for those that missed out on the cool HG swag), Fanboy Comics will be giving away a few exclusive Hunger Games items that we retrieved from the Con! (Trust me - you won't want to miss these items!!!) Stay tuned to the Fanboy Comics website and Facebook page for details later this week!

My favorite book put of the three would have to be The Hunger Games. It was my favorite because it was the beginning the the series. It started a great trilogy. The Hunger Games was romantic and action-filled.
You costume is awesome! You are now my offical Halloween inspiration
Thanks, Leens! I am so glad that you liked it! My friends and I are considering going as the entire HG crew for Halloween.
Ah!!! If only my friends were as amenable! I have been pushing the books on everyone in secret hopes that they would become as obssessed as I am and agree to my master Halloween plot! .... but I might be going solo ...wah wah.
I commented on the giveaway contest, but my comment didnt show up. I tried to comment again but it told me I already commented. Two days later I still don't see my comment. Is this normal? Are only certain comments shown on this site? (I'm new here so if this is an obvious thing I'm sorry) On another subject your costume is great! I'm planning on going to the New York Comic Con as Katniss.

I've gotta say after reading the books over and over my favorite is still The Hunger Games! It's an amazing book and a perfect start to this awesome trilogy. I couldn't stop reading because it left me on the edge of my seat and wanting more!
I hope that this helps!
I can't wait to see your Katniss costume! Please send pictures when you can, and have a great time at NYCC!
Sincerely,
Barbra
Thanks for responding Barbra. As soon as the costume is finished I'll post some pics, today I start work on my bow and arrows!
Barbra, aka Katniss,
I just wanted to say how proud I am of you and the whole FBCs crew for bringing the Hunger Games to life at Comic-Con this year!
Hi, Ellen!
Thank you so much! I hope that I am making Book Club proud.
Best wishes,
Barbra
Hi, FireDemon18!
If it is of any help, Big 5 has a great bow and arrow kit. Add some silver paint, and you are good to go!
Sincerely,
Barbra
Thanks for the tip Barbra. I'm trying to make my own but if that fails I'll check it out. I can't find a good arrow case though, where did you get yours? And where did you get your orange backpack? I've only found one decent one and its fifty dollars.
Hi, FireDemon18!
You can actually make your quiver out of a cardboard poster tube. Wrap it with a bit of fabric, and you are good to go! I would check out your local sporting goods stores for the orange backpack; there are a number of pre-made emergency kits that come inside an orange backpack. (Plus, you'll have the emergency kit for later!)
Best wishes,
Barbra
Great, thanks for all your help Barbra!
And Barbra, you are making book club SO proud!
My favorite book of the 3, and all time favorite book is The Hunger Games, its my favorite because it started the series and even from the first sentence i was hooked, i read the boom in one day and want to keep reading it everyday, i love the characters and all the action, and the little bit of romance. The Hunger Games is the BEST BOOK EVER!!!
